POUGHKEEPSIE – Twenty-seven-year-old Anthony Beckford of Poughkeepsie was arrested on November 17 by state troopers and the Westchester County FBI Safe Streets Task Force on a bench warrant issued by the Dutchess County Court.

State Police say that in February of 2019 the troopers and FBI arrested Beckford for possession with intent to sell heroin and fentanyl, and possession of a stolen Smith & Wesson Model 64, .38 special revolver with a defaced serial number.  The charges also included multiple felony counts of drug and weapons charges.

After his release, Beckford fled the country to avoid prosecution.

Continued investigation by the State Police and the Westchester County FBI Safe Streets Task Force determined Beckford returned to the United States and located him in Brooklyn, and arrested him.

He was transported to the Dutchess County Jail pending a future court date with the Dutchess County Court.
