Santa at the 2020 Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru.

POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie police are putting the final touches on “Santa’s Candy Cane Express” which is taking place on Saturday, December 11.  The holiday celebration will continue with the “Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru” on December 16 and December 17.

The officers and volunteers will be bringing Santa around the city on Saturday, December 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. so the jolly old elf can see that the children are behaving.

The estimated schedule for the Candy Cane Express is as follows:

  • Hudson Garden Apartments from 9:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.
  • Martin Luther King Apartments 9:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m
  • Delafield Street Apartments 10:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
  • Charles Street Apartments 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
  • Rip Van Winkle Apartments 11:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
  • Soldiers Fountain from 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
  • Corlies Manor Apartments 12:00 p.m. to 12:20 p.m.
  • Boulevard Knolls Apartments 12:30 p.m. to 12:50 p.m.
  • 7-11 on Hooker Avenue from 1:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m.

To continue their community outreach programming, the police department’s Winter Wonderland is taking place on Thursday, December 16 and Friday, December 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The driveway and parking lot at the city’s Public Safety Building at 505 Main Street will be decorated with an array of holiday lights and characters, along with police and fire vehicles.  Visitors can drive through the display and stop for a quick visit with Santa Claus.
