MID-HUDSON – By 10:45 on Black Friday morning, the parking lots and facilities at Woodbury Common were completely full and State Police blocked off the Route 17 westbound exit 131 as well as the Route 6/32 ramp is also closed.
The stores at the shopping centers in the Town of Wallkill, Poughkeepsie and greater Kingston area also had brisk sales and shoppers flocked in from the Hudson Valley and Catskills to Pennsylvania and New York City.
Area chambers of commerce promoted a ‘buy local’ campaign, urging shoppers to frequent locally owned stores in their communities.
