VILLAGE OF HAVERSTRAW – A 43-year-old Queens man was arrested on Wednesday following a fatal hit-and-run accident on Route 9W on Tuesday morning, November 23.  Police Chief Peter Murphy announced the arrest of Sugundo Landi-Lucer on Wednesday.

The suspect is facing charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and was to be arraigned on Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Route 9W near Fairmount Avenue on Tuesday at approximately 4:47 a.m.  The victim was killed as a result of the collision.   Haverstraw Police were able to obtain surveillance camera footage of the suspect vehicle and provided it to local media.

Chief Murphy credited the Clarkstown Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team for their assistance at the scene as well as the NYPD for their assistance in apprehending Landi-Lucer.
