Unemployment continues to drop

ALBANY – Unemployment in the Hudson Valley/Catskills continues its downward trend with rates falling below 2020 numbers. Everywhere you go, there are “help wanted” signs at virtually all types of businesses.

None of the counties in the region reached the five percent rate.

In October, Columbia County had the lowest rate of joblessness, at 3.3 percent while Sullivan and Greene counties had the highest rates regionally, at 4.3 percent.

Putnam County came in second with 3.7 percent unemployment, followed by Rockland and Delaware counties at 3.9 percent.

Dutchess and Ulster counties each registered 4.0 percent joblessness while Westchester and Orange counties each registered 4.2 percent.
