SAUGERTIES – Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra and Town Supervisor Fred Costello are holding another cannabis town hall meeting in which the public is invited to discuss the new cannabis legislation passed by the state earlier this year. The meeting is being held at the Frank Greco Senior Center on December 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Chief Sinagra and Supervisor Costello will join attorney David Holland, of the New York City Cannabis Foundation, Mayor William Murphy, Cannabis Educator Martha McDermott, MSW, and Ruben Lindo of Herbn Couture LLC.

The presentation is an opportunity for interested parties to get a better understanding of the meaning of sales, warehousing, growing, distribution, and consumption of cannabis in the town and village.

Chief Sinagra said that the October forum was very well attended, drawing residents from both the town and village of Saugerties. “I encourage the residents of Saugerties that did not participate in the first meeting to join us on December 13th. This meeting, as did the first, will be an exchange of facts and ideas between industry leaders, community participants, law enforcement, educators, advocates, and community leaders.”

The chief noted that the positive and negative impacts of the new laws need to be examined by every community.  He said that participants at the first meeting were engaged.  “There were many questions relative to licensing, retail, and consumption. It was apparent that the vast majority of the audience were present to better educate themselves on the new laws and to further understand the potential positive and or negative impacts of the cannabis industry and consumption pose in any community.”

The Frank Greco Senior Center is located at 207 Market Street in the Village of Saugerties.
