Elderly woman dies after being struck while crossing Tappan road

TAPPAN – An 86-year-old woman who was struck by a car as she crossed Western Highway in Tappan on Thursday evening, has died, Orangetown Police said.

Lorraine Foley of Tappan was crossing the road between Grand Avenue and Cedar Street at around 5:13 p.m. when she was struck by a 213 Volvo S80 driven by Gary Dauria, 64, of Tappan.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where she later died from her injuries, police said.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and police ask anyone who may have witnessed it to call them at 845-359-3700.
