Elderly woman suffers serious injuries when struck while crossing road

TAPPAN – An 86-year-old woman who was crossing Western Highway in Tappan Thursday evening sustained life-threatening injuries, Orangetown Police said.

At about 5:13 p.m., the woman was crossing the road when she was struck by a 2013 Volvo S80 driven by a 64-year-old Tappan man.

The victim was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital by South Orangetown Ambulance Corps.

The Orangetown Police Department Accident Investigation Team is conducting a further review. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have additional information is asked to call the police at 845-359-3700.
