MONTICELLO – A convicted felon is going back to prison after a jury convicted him of felony drug charges in Sullivan County Court in September. Lenard Jackins, 34, of Yonkers was sentenced to 12 years in prison on November 15, according to Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan.

Jackins was convicted of two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance stemming from a February 21 arrest in the Town of Thompson.

Galligan prosecuted Jackins on the felony drug charges after State Police arrested him for possession of fentanyl and crack cocaine that he intended to distribute in Sullivan County.

DA Galligan said that Jackins previously spent five years in prison after being convicted of felony drug and conspiracy charges in New York City in 2011.

“This prosecution underscores the commitment of our law enforcement community to detecting and deterring the distribution of deadly fentanyl in Sullivan County by those who prey upon addiction for profit,” Galligan said.
