Elderly man dies following three-car crash

BLAUVELT – An 83-Blauvelt man was killed in a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 303 and East Erie Street in Blauvelt late Monday afternoon.

Seymour Whynman died about an hour after the accident, Orangetown Police said.

According to authorities, a 2005 Mack commercial box truck driven by Andrew Roe, 29, of Middletown, was traveling northbound on Route 303 just after 5 p.m. A 2019 Subaru Forrester driven by Whynman was traveling westbound on East Eris Street

A collision occurred at that intersection and the Subaru subsequently collided with a 2020 Ford Transit van in the southbound turn lane on Route 303.

A female passenger in Whynman’s car was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

The Orangetown Police Department Accident Investigation team is conducting further investigation.
