Police on Daniels Court after two subjects were apprehended.

POUGHKEEPSIE – More gunfire in the City of Poughkeepsie as police responded to a report of shots fired on the grounds of Poughkeepsie High School Monday afternoon.  Two subjects have been taken into custody and a gun was recovered.

Police responded to the reports of gunfire shortly after 3 p.m. near the faculty parking lot directly across the street from the Forbus Street School.  A witness told Mid-Hudson News that she heard several “pops” and saw a group of students running back towards the school.

According to police radio communications, a witness said two male subjects, dressed in black clothing and wearing white masks were running away from the parking lot towards Daniels Court.  Moments later, a police officer radioed in that he was in a foot pursuit.  The officer could be heard yelling for the subjects to “get down.”  The officer was able to detain the two subjects.  A handgun was recovered.

Police officers and detectives were searching the area for evidence in and around the parking lot and the front of the high school and two K9 units were assisting.  Poughkeepsie School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser was seen arriving at the school and talking to security personnel.

A person who was parked on Daniels Court and reported the shooting called police after she arrived home to report that her vehicle had sustained damage from a gunshot.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
