MIDDLETOWN – Joe Masi is the only veteran sitting on the Middletown Common Council and he would like more former servicemen and women to become involved in local government.

Masi, who served in the Air Force stateside from September 1963 to June 1967, said veterans should get involved in their communities.

“I’d really like to see more veterans get involved in their communities in elections. It’s very important. I know I am the only elected official in the City of Middletown and have been for a long time,” he said.

The annual joint Middletown-Wallkill Veterans Day service was held at the Elk’s Club to say ‘thank you’ to veterans.
