GOSHEN – A Wallkill man, who was arrested following a 14-month, multi-state manhunt, pled guilty in Orange County Court on Tuesday to a murder charge.

Jamaad Murphy, 29, admitted to shooting Matthew Napoleoni, 23, to death outside the Made in Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar at around 2:15 in the morning on November 3, 2019.

District Attorney David Hoovler is suggesting a lengthy prison sentence when he is back in court next month.

“We are recommending 23 years to life on the case as a result of his plea. It was the largest manhunt in Orange County history,” the DA said.

The manhunt that led to Murphy’s arrest involved New York State Police as well as state, local and federal law enforcement in a number of states.
