Two arrested in burglary of Red Hook Elks Lodge

RED HOOK – Two Greenport men have been arrested in connection with a burglary at the Red Hook Elks Club.

Scott Hapeman, 50, and Brad Hapeman, 48, were charged with felony burglary.

On October 28 at about 4:10 a.m., the power and alarm lines were cut. The interior of the building was damaged as well as cash registered, lottery machines, a safe and a juke box with money was emptied.

State Police with assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and Red Hook Police arrested the two men.

Scott Hapeman was located with burglar tools and stolen money while still in the Elks Lodge. He was charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, and grand larceny, all as felonies, and possession of burglar tools as a misdemeanor.

Brad Hapeman was located nearby and charged with felony burglary.

Both were arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
