HUDSON VALLEY – Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett failed in his bid for a third term. He was soundly defeated by Donald Krapf, a sergeant and 23-year veteran of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Krapf, running as a Democrat captured 10,505 votes while Republican Bartlett garnered 8,647 votes.
In Putnam County, incumbent Sheriff Robert Langley, a Democrat was defeated by Republican Kevin McConville. The challenger received 12,222 votes while Langley tallied 9,074 in his defeat.
In Orange County, Sheriff Car DuBois will be retiring at the end of 2022 with two Republican and one Democratic candidate already lining up.
