Man hospitalized after Halloween bat attack

POUGHKEEPSIE – A man was admitted to a local hospital after being struck in the head with a baseball bat on Halloween night in Poughkeepsie.  The 8:45 p.m. incident occurred on Fountain Place on October 31, according to city police.

Police responded to the scene within moments of receiving the report of the assault and rendered aid to the man until the Mobile Life crew arrived.  The EMS staff assumed the treatment of the victim and transported him to Mid Hudson Regional Medical Hospital, where he was admitted for additional treatment.

The crime scene was processed by City of Poughkeepsie Police Crime Scene Technicians.

City police interviewed the victim who indicated he would not pursue criminal charges against his bat-wielding assailant.
