Four-year-old injured in hit-and-run

GREENPORT – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an SUV that struck a child and sped away from the scene in Greenport Sunday at approximately 6:46 p.m.

The sheriff’s office says that the four-year-old and his mother were crossing Fairview Avenue at the Livingston Parkway/Plaza Diner intersection when the child was struck by the SUV that was traveling northbound.

 

The vehicle, described as a dark-colored SUV, did not stop and continued traveling north on Fairview Avenue in Greenport.  The child was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a broken ankle along with cuts and bruises.  He was treated and subsequently sent home to recover from the trauma.

 

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have information that will help in locating the vehicle and/or the operator is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 518-828-3344.
