POUGHKEEPSIE – A female sustained a gunshot wound to her arm Saturday evening at approximately 6:20 p.m.  The victim was shot in the parking lot of the Valero gas station located at 125 Market Street.
While numerous police units were responding to the location, a City 911 dispatcher advised that the victim had been transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) in a private vehicle.  Another update indicated that there were five black male suspects that fired the shots and fled in the direction of the Tubman Terrace Apartments, located just east of the gas station.
Some officers canvassed the gas station for evidence while others converged on the apartment complex.  City 911 provided an additional update indicating that a caller reported that five males, four black and one light-skinned black male wearing dark pants and dark hoodies were seen running into an apartment building on Nina Place in the complex.  Another caller reported that three black males matching that description were seen getting into a gray or silver sedan and leaving the complex.  Both reports were unfounded.
At least one City of Poughkeepsie officer responded to the hospital to interview the victim and the investigation is ongoing.  The female is the seventh reported victim of gun violence in the city in less than 72 hours.
Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the gas station shooting to call the police on the confidential TIPS Line at 845-451-7577.
