NEW CITY – A Rockland County father and son were arraigned in county court on Thursday on charges including manslaughter in connection with the fire that claimed two lives last March at the Evergreen Adult Home in Spring Valley.

Aaron Sommer and Nathaniel Sommer are charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, arson, and reckless endangerment for causing the fire that killed firefighter Jared Lloyd and facility resident Oliver Hueston.

Both father and son, who were indicted by a Rockland County grand jury, are free on bail pending their next court appearance.

The fire started as the men were cleaning an oven in preparation for the Passover holiday.
