STEWART AIRPORT – Frontier Airlines brought its polar bear mascot with them to New York Stewart International Airport in Newburgh on Monday evening as the airline launched its new service to Orlando. It will add Miami and Tampa in early November.

Port Authority Aviation Director Huntley Lawrence welcomed the new routes.

“Expanding air service at Stewart Airport, adding new airlines, going to more destinations is just critical for the growth and our long-term plan for Stewart Airport,” he said.

Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president – commercial, said they saw Stewart as a golden opportunity to expand their routes.

“This airport has lost air service in large part due to the pandemic obviously and we have seen demand for domestic air travel recover, we have seen demand to Florida from the northeast recover sharply in the last few months and we figured it was a very good opportunity to add another destination to our route network,” he said.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus is thrilled with the new service.

“I just bought tickets for my entire family to fly down early next year to do a little trip on vacation,” he said.

Frontier’s introductory fares are as low as $39 one-way.
