NEW CITY – A father and son, Rabbis Nathaniel and Aaron Sommer, have been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on several charges including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the March 23 fatal fire at the Evergreen Assisted Living Home in Spring Valley.

The blaze consumed the entire structure, and some 100 residents of the nursing facility were rescued.

One volunteer firefighter, Jared Lloyd, perished in the fire.

The father and son were also indicted on charges of assault, arson and reckless endangerment.

They were allegedly cleaning an oven in preparation of the Passover holiday when the fire broke out.
