WHITE PLAINS – Millionaire Robert Durst has been charged with the murder of his first wife, Kathie Durst, who went missing in 1982.  Durst, now 78, told authorities that he never saw her after he drove her to the train from their South Salem home in Westchester.  Her body was never discovered and she was declared dead by a judge in 2017.

Durst was sentenced to life in prison on October 14 in California for the murder of his friend Susan Berman, who many believe helped Durst cover up the murder of his wife.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah reopened the investigation into the disappearance of Durst earlier this year.  It was investigated by the Westchester County DA’s “Cold Case” unit.

On Friday, October 22, Rocah issued a statement saying, “The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office can confirm that a complaint charging Robert Durst with the murder of Kathleen Durst was filed in Lewisboro Town Court on October 19, 2021. We have no further comment at this time.”

The convicted murderer is reported to be hospitalized on a ventilator in California after testing positive for COVID-19.
