MONTICELLO – “Vet 2 Vet,” a new peer-networking program recently instituted by Action Toward Independence of Sullivan and Orange Counties (ATI), is seeking both input and participation from area veterans.

In a safe, anonymous and non-judgmental environment, Vet 2 Vet will offer Veteran Peer Support, Advocacy, Benefit Advisement, Peer Counseling, Financial Literacy, Mental Health Support and more.

Veteran advocates at ATI, Ryan Fuller and Kevin Coates said the goal of Vet 2 Vet is to “get Veterans involved in the community and assist them to access help through their peers, and access the benefits they have earned through their service to the country.” Fuller said that many veterans are not aware of all the benefits they’re entitled to.

A survey seeking information on programs and events that area veterans would like to participate in is in the works and will shortly be available on the ATI website and social media.

Recreational activities are also being planned such as fishing and other outdoor trips to take advantage of the beauty of Sullivan County and the Hudson Valley.

Veterans from all branches of the military are invited to contact ATI for information and input on the Vet 2 Vet program.
