PINE ISLAND – A Pine Island man was shot to death late Saturday afternoon in the Newport Bridge Road area of that section of the Town of Warwick and on Sunday afternoon, State Police announced the shooter had taken his own life.
Warwick and State Police converged on the scene following the discovery of the victim lying in the middle of the road. They were joined by police from neighboring communities and spent much of the overnight searching for the shooter.
He was found dead having suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police have released no names of the men involved.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
