NEW ROCHELLE – The suspect in the October 14 murder of 62-year-old New Rochelle cab driver Andres Valenzuela has been caught.

New Rochelle Police said they captured the suspect – Percell Lamond Ross, 52, of Covington, Virginia – following a shootout in Brooklyn. He was taken into custody when he ran out of ammunition. No one was hurt.

A .22 caliber revolver recovered in Sunday’s shootout was believed to be the same weapon used to kill the cabbie.

Police said Valenzuela was finishing his shift as a taxi driver and was parking his cab when he was shot and killed before 3 a.m. last Thursday.

New Rochelle Police on patrol spotted him on the ground in a parking lot. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
