PINE PLAINS – State Police said a fire that leveled a house on Hoffman Street in Pine Plains Wednesday evening was in fact caused by an explosion.  The original account by Mid Hudson News can be found here.

One person, Kim Dunn, 62, was pulled from the wreckage by a neighbor and a fireman.

A second occupant, Lawrence Pariseau, 61, was located dead inside the building.

Dunn was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Pine Plains Police Department assisted several local fire departments in fighting the blaze.

The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division and the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control also responded and assisted in the investigation.
