MALDEN – A crash between a school bus and a dump truck on Route 9W in the Malden area of the Town of Saugerties left the driver of the truck dead.
There were no children on the school bus and the driver of that vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The names of the two drivers were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred at about 8:51 a.m. on Thursday.
The investigation into the cause is being conducted by the sheriff’s office and State Police Reconstruction Unit.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the State Police, State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Town of Saugerties Police, Ulster District Attorney’s Office, Diaz Memorial Ambulance Service, Malden-West Camp Fire Department and the Saxton Fire Department.
