GOSHEN – In the wake of the Orange County Department of Human Resources finding County Legislator Stephen Brescia guilty of making sexually harassing comments to a female county employee, a fellow lawmaker is calling for him to step down.

Brescia has admitted to making the comments and now, Legislator Jimmy O’Donnell said he should resign from his post.

“His total disregard for the consequences of his actions are behind comprehension and most importantly call into question the sincerity of his original remorse and apology to the victim,” he said. “Sexual harassment in the workplace is no laughing matter. As the brother to five sisters and proud father of five daughters, I am acutely aware of the struggles women must overcome in the workplace.”

Brescia had made comments to a female employee regarding the appearance of her body. The county human resources department said he should receive additional training relative to discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
