NEW CITY – A Spring Valley woman has pled guilty stemming from the investigation into the June 19, 2021 death of her one-year-old son.

Marie Dorleus, 36, pled guilty to criminally negligent homicide.

She admitted in Rockland County Court that she left her three small children unsupervised for several hours in their family home in Spring Valley.

When the children were alone, her one-year-old son became stuck in a box spring leaning against a wall in her bedroom.

The small child ultimately asphyxiated and was pronounced dead at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

When sentenced in December, Dorleus faces the maximum state prison term permitted by law, which is 1 1/3 to four years in prison.
