NEWBURGH – The day after Jorge Arbayza De La Cruz was shot and killed in his cab in the City of Newburgh, family members accused the EMS services of arriving on the scene 30 minutes later and that conributed to the death of their relative.
On Monday, the president of Mobile Life Support Services, Scott Woebse, disputed that claim saying his Newburgh crew arrived on the scene and started rendering care within six minutes of being dispatched by the city police department. He said they transported the patient four minutes later to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.
As a result of the family’s comment to Mid-Hudson News, “the public was given a false impression that a late response time had anything to do with Mr. De La Cruz’s death,” Woebse said.
The family of the victim has offered a $15,000 reward leading to the arrest of those who committed the crime and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has contributed another $5,000 reward.
Funeral services for Del La Cruz will be held on Saturday.
