HUDSON – A Hudson man faces up to four years in state prison following his conviction on a felony charge of criminal sexual act.

Shawn Mazelie, 41, was found guilty by a Columbia County Court jury of engaging in sexual conduct with a person less than 17 years old on December 7, 2019.

Mazelie will also be required to register as a sex offender for at least 20 years when sentenced next month.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty, who prosecuted the case, praised the courage of the victim in testifying in the case “under extremely stressful circumstances.”

The ADA also thanked the Child Advocacy Center, whose counselors had been instrumental in obtaining the conviction and assisting the victim from the day the crime was reported.
