POUGHKEEPSIE – In the wake of the resignation of the former Dutchess County commissioner of the Department of Behavioral and Community Health, the county legislature is poised to confirm the appointment of Dr. Dennis Joseph Chute as acting commissioner.
The State Health Department has given the county the consent to appoint Chute for a total of 40 days at an annual salary of $228,661.
The county legislature is now expected to appoint Chute as acting commissioner, originally effective on September 11, until a permanent appointment is made.
The legislature’s Family & Human Services Committee will take up the appointment at is next session on Thursday.
