Saturday night wreck shuts down Route 199

MILAN – A rollover accident on Route 199 Saturday night sent the vehicle’s two occupants to Westchester Medical Center (WMC) with serious injuries.  The accident occurred at approximately 10:48 p.m. between Wilbur Flats and Hicks Hill Roads.

A Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff was the first on the scene after being dispatched and reported that a child was out of the car and the adult was still in the vehicle.  The Milan Fire Department and an ambulance from Northern Dutchess Paramedics (NDP) responded and indicated that both occupants were out of the vehicle and in serious condition.  A second NPD ambulance was requested along with a medevac helicopter.

The Rhinebeck Fire Department established a landing zone at Milan Town Hall for the helicopter.  Fire officials said one patient was taken via helicopter and one was transported via ambulance to WMC.

Route 199 was shut down till approximately 3:25 am with Pine Plains Fire & Rescue assisting in keeping the roadway safe.

The condition of the victims was not made available.
