Latin Kings leader gets long prison sentence

WHITE PLAINS – Carmelo Velez, also know as “Jugg,” was sentenced in federal court to 19 years in prison in connection with his participation in the Black Mob set of the Latin Kings and their distribution of narcotics, including heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine.

The 32-year-old Velez of Newburgh was charged with racketeering offenses, narcotics conspiracy, and firearms offenses.

He also admitted to his involvement in several acts of violence including slashing a rival gang member and a home invasion.

When released from prison, Velez will face five years of post-release supervision.
