TIVOLI – The Tivoli Fire Company will welcome two new emergency vehicles with a “Wetdown” celebration on Sunday, September 26th. The festivities begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Tivoli Firehouse, located at 2 Tivoli Commons in the village. The event is free to the public and features food, music, and prizes.

The “Wetdown” ceremony will kick off a capital campaign for the Tivoli Fire Company to raise funds for a new addition to the firehouse. This extra space will house all emergency support vehicles and provide functional space for firefighters and EMTs.

The expansion will include a new Red Cross Emergency Shelter and multi-purpose space for community activities. The capital campaign goal is $3 million, with funds coming from private donations and public funding.  The Tivoli Firehouse serves the town of Tivoli, parts of Red Hook and Bard campus, and provides mutual aid to Germantown and Clermont.

The “Wetdown” ceremony is slated to draw local elected officials, neighboring fire department volunteers and trucks, and community organizations. Tours of the fire station will be offered, especially for children who can enjoy “touch a truck” activities.

“For firefighters, a ‘Wetdown’ is like the christening of a new ship,” said Marc Hildenbrand, Fire Chief of the Tivoli Fire Company. “This celebration will officially launch new emergency vehicles that will keep our local citizens safe. I’m also thrilled by the new capital campaign because expansion will ensure our fire company can keep pace with the growing needs of our community while guaranteeing the safety of our volunteer emergency responders.”
