LAGRANGE – A 16-year-old Arlington High School (AHS) student was fatally stabbed during a fight following a football game Friday night. A City of Poughkeepsie teenager has been charged with manslaughter for his role in the student’s death. The football game was between Arlington and Scarsdale High Schools.
On Friday, September 17, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputies stationed at AHS reported a large fight and requested all available police units to the scene to help restore peace.
Additional deputies responded along with the New York State Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, City of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of East Fishkill Police, and Village of Wappingers Falls Police to assist. During the fight, one 16-year-old Arlington student was stabbed. The victim was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where they were later pronounced dead. The original report by Mid Hudson News that there were three victims was erroneous.
The DCSO arrested Nestor Ortiz-Ocampo, age 18, at the scene and charged him with Manslaughter. The former Arlington High School student is expected to be arraigned on Saturday, September 18, according to DCSO Captain John Watterson.
