PINE BUSH -The shortage of bus drivers has become so critical that the Pine Bush Central School District cancelled classes today (Friday).

There will be transportation for special needs students who attend out-of-district schools, said Superintendent Tim Mains.

“Our team here at the district continues to work on both short-term and long-term solutions to the current bus situation, trying to fashion a solution that we believe is both practical and manageable,” he said. “Currently when I close schools, I cannot simply pivot to remote instruction because we still do not have Chromebooks distributed to all of our students.”

Mains said the district cannot provide Chromebooks for students to take back and forth between school and home until a parent signs and returns an agreement. Parents who have purchased a Chromebook for their child should email their child’s principal to let them know.
