Newburgh man stabbed in “vicious, unprovoked attack”

NEWBURGH – A 42-year-old City of Newburgh man was attacked and stabbed repeatedly while inside a local deli at around 2:30 Thursday afternoon in what city police say was a “vicious, unprovoked attack” at the deli at 321 Liberty Street.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he required surgery and is expected to survive, police said.

The crime scene was processed by members of the city’s Detective Division Crime Scene Unit.
