POUGHKEEPSIE – A teenager is under arrest after Poughkeepsie City Police found a gun on the boy during an active criminal investigation Wednesday afternoon. The arrest came while police were investigating a “shots fired” call on South Cherry Street between Main Street Church Street (eastbound arterial) on Wednesday just before 3 p.m.
Police were investigating the crime scene and were provided a description of a possible suspect while they were at the scene. As law enforcement officials were recovering shell casings in the area, a teenager who resembled the description given, approached the crime scene. The youth was using his cell phone to make a video recording of the police who were at the scene.
Police questioned the youth and determined that the teenager was in possession of a firearm. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing.
