POUGHKEEPSIE – The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie has received approval through the New York State Office of Mental Health to provide Children and Family Treatment and Support Services to Medicaid eligible children outside of the public foster care system. This is the Home’s first license from that state agency.

This new license allows the Children’s Home to provide a wide array of support that includes clinical components such as individual and family therapy, as well as support with basic living skills to foster independence within their community.

Agency officials said the license gives youth the power to improve their health, well-being and quality of life. These services strengthen families and help them make informed decisions about their care. Enrollment in the program is voluntary and no fees are charged to the family.

The Children’s Home, historically known as a residential treatment facility for children in the foster care system, began offering community-based services to children and families in 2016. Services are provided in Dutchess, Orange,

Children from birth to age 21, who are Medicaid eligible can qualify for services. These programs strive to be family-driven and youth-guided. The family is viewed as the expert in their care which allows for strong rapport between the clients and practitioners. Each program provides a wide array of services to meet the needs of the youth.
