NEW CITY – Airmont Deputy Village Mayor Brian Downey has been arrested on state and federal charges weapons possession an arsenal of weapons was recovered from his residence.

A warrant search of his home on Edgebrook Lane revealed his possession of more than 10 unregistered firearms, 16 assault weapons, and 13 firearm silencers.

Authorities also seized New York Court officer identification cards and two fraudulent New York Court office badges.

“This fluid investigation involving the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office and our federal partners, (HIS, ATF, US Postal Inspector) has resulted in the arrest of a public official who violated that oath of office and betrayed the trust of he public whom he swore to serve,” said DA Thomas Walsh II.
