Deer caught in the floodwaters of the Delaware off Port Jervis

PORT JERVIS – The City of Port Jervis, which often gets slammed when heavy rains hit the region, escaped relatively unscathed by the remnants of Ida when she tore through the region Wednesday.

The water level at the West End Beach area of the Delaware River rose rapidly at crested at 13 feet.

The only casualties of the flood waters appeared to be few deer that were grazing when the water rose. One bystander said they would likely flow with the current and work their way back to dry ground.
