NEWBURGH – The fall semester at Newburgh’s Mount Saint Mary College begins today, Monday, August 30 with the first two weeks of classes online. The first day of in-person instruction will be held on Monday, September 13.

Students began to move into the campus dormitories on Sunday, August 29.

Among the first-year students is Dakota Krudis of Hopewell Junction, who is majoring in business. She was excited about beginning her college career on a campus that is “a nice, tightknit community.”

Erin Alpert of Wappingers Falls chose her major, psychology, because she wants to aid her community. “I really like the idea of being able to help other people. If I go into psychology, I can do that.”

Victoria Lopez of Mahopac, another psych major moved in on Sunday as did nursing major Luke Barone of Monroe.

The Mount is offering a number of new programs this semester including a cybersecurity certificate program; a Master of Science in nursing and post-Master’s certificate nursing track; and a sports management major.
