Westchester DA Miriam Rocah is launching a program to reduce drug prosecutions.

KINGSTON – An Ellenville man was sentenced to five years in state prison and three years of post-release supervision following his conviction for selling heroin. At the same time, Antonio Vega, 35, was also sentenced to two to four years in prison on his guilty plea to aggravated criminal contempt. The sentences will run concurrently.

Vega was arrested in September 2019 for selling heroin and was remanded due to having two prior felony charges pending for domestic violence.

He was released in January 2020 under the state’s bail reform laws. One month later, he was arrested for violating a full stay-away order of protection and was remanded, this time without bail.

Vega also had a prior conviction from 2016 for criminal contempt.
