“This is a wonderful opportunity for women to come and meet with current members of the organization, discover what the League stands for, as well as learning about membership opportunities,” according to Junior League officials. Light appetizers will be served at the event.
Junior League Poughkeepsie President Jacqueline Altwerger is working with her members to grow the local JL chapter. “After pausing our recruitment due to COVID, the Junior League is excited to welcome new members to the organization. While in the League, our new members can look forward to volunteer and training opportunities, social events, and taking part in our League’s namesake events, such as Girls Empowerment and Mother’s Day Dinner,” she said while asking for those interested to attend the event.
Founded in 1919, the Junior League of Poughkeepsie is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League of Poughkeepsie is a volunteer organization for women interested in making an impact in their community.
The Junior League of Poughkeepsie is a member of The Association of Junior Leagues International, an organization of transformational female leaders who set bold goals, open their circles, disrupt convention and change the conversation for the betterment of civil society. Today, there are Leagues across the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
