LOCH SHELDRAKE – SUNY Sullivan is mandating that all students attending classes on campus be vaccinated for COVID19, in accordance with the state-wide directive from the State University of New York.

“SUNY Sullivan is thrilled that the FDA approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for regular use,” said College President Sullivan Jay Quaintance. “While we at SUNY Sullivan have been extremely successful in maintaining a safe environment for our students and staff and have had no transmission of the virus on campus, we know that getting everyone vaccinated is the most effective path out of this pandemic. We join all our SUNY colleagues in welcoming our vaccinated students back to campus for the college experience that we all have missed over the past 17 months.”

SUNY Sullivan students who plan to attend classes or activities on campus and are unvaccinated have until Monday, September 27 to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. Students may choose from the available vaccines—Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson.

SUNY is strongly recommending that students get the first shot by September 3, with the expectation that students will be fully vaccinated by September 27.

Vaccines are available at most pharmacies, as well as walk-in New York State-run vaccination sites. To find vaccine locations students can go to https://www.vaccines.gov/search/

As the summer begins to wind down, SUNY Sullivan’s campus is gearing up for in-person instruction this fall. The college has added many new initiatives such as the availability of childcare on campus, a new e-sports program/arena, an enlarged food pantry, a newly marked network of hiking and snowshoeing trails and a wellness program. Residence halls are open, and the college is actively recruiting for college sports teams.
