Port Jervis man sentenced to PA jail for attempting to elude police

MILFORD, PA – A Port Jervis man has been sentenced to 10 days to 12 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months following an incident in Dingman Township, Pennsylvania.

Fitzroy Lucas, 55, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and driving under the influence.

State Police had been dispatched to I-84 on January 17 where it was reported that Lucas was driving erratically. 

The trooper initiated a traffic stop; however, Lucas ignored the command and drove an additional five miles.

Once contact was made with Lucas, he was observed to have extremely bloodshot, glassy eyes, emitted the small of alcoholic beverage and had unintelligible speech.

Several empty alcoholic beverage containers were in the vehicle.

It was not possible to run field sobriety tests due to his impairment.
