Street named in memory of FDNY member

FDNY Capt. Frank Portelle

NANUET – Park Place in Nanuet is now called Capt. Frank A. Portelle Place in memory of the member of the FDNY’s Engine 50 in the Bronx who died from brain cancer related his rescue service after the 9/11 attack 20 years ago. He passed away on March 13, 2021.

Community joined family members on Thursday when the new street name was unveiled.

Portelle was on the job for 24 years starting his career at Engine 228 in Brooklyn and spent most of his career at Ladder 13 in Manhattan and then went on to be a lieutenant and captain at Engine 50 in the Bronx.
