Three arrested in Poughkeepsie stabbing

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 32-year-old Poughkeepsie man is being treated at MidHudson Regional Hospital for two severe but non-life-threatening stab wounds to his back after being attacked by three men early Friday morning.

Shortly after 1 a.m. two Poughkeepsie City officers on patrol observed three men chase, tackle, punch, kick and stab a victim.

As the officers pulled up to the scene, the perpetrators fled and were chased on foot into the area of North White, Main Street and the eastbound arterial. A perimeter was established and eventually all three were apprehended.

The suspects, Wynton Horton, 21, Tyshom Cherry, 20, and Jahmy Hodges, 19, were all charged with gang assault as a felony. Horton was also charged with assault for stabbing the victim.

All three are Poughkeepsie City residents.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the police at 845-451-7577.
