POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie will hold an “end of the summer” fireworks display on Sunday, August 29.
The fireworks will conclude a Special Event, “Upstate Immersive,” that will take place the weekend of August 28-29 at Dongan Park and on the site of the former Pelton Manor.
The immersive sculpture show is part of a biennial arts activation and emulates past presentations in city malls, such as the Bklyn Immersive at City Point in 2017 and the Times Square Immersive at the public plaza in conjunction with Times Square Arts in 2019.
Among the best places to view the fireworks are the city’s waterfront, including Waryas Park, and on the Walkway Over the Hudson, which requires a ticket.
Proceeds from ticket sales support the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization and help fund community events like the annual fireworks display, Walkway at Night series, Mayfest, and the Walktoberfest farmers and makers markets.
